Bill’s back on the team
IT’S been eight years since former Isis Shire Mayor Bill Trevor departed local government as a result of the Bundaberg Regional Council amalgamation.
A decision to contest the 2016 Local Authority elections as a councillor resulted in Cr Trevor winning the Division Two seat and last week receiving the support of his fellow councillors with a successful bid for the position of deputy mayor.
“I’m really excited to be back in local government and very motivated to make a difference not only for the people of Division Two but a contribution to the Bundaberg Region generally,” he said.
“Division Two is an extremely large slice of the region and I intend to make regular visits to all corners of my division to connect with residents.
“I always have been a firm believer in taking council to the people rather than sitting in an office and waiting for them to call.
“Under the leadership of Mayor Jack Dempsey we have a person with a strong focus on wanting to make things happen...
“Jack is a very positive person with a passion for the region and I’m certain his enthusiasm will flow to his council team.”
Cr Trevor said he hoped to bring the Mayor to Childers in coming weeks so he could meet with locals and get a feel for the community.
“Right now the task at hand is to participate in the briefings that will allow all councillors to come up to speed regarding the position of Bundaberg Regional Council and the current delivery of its projects and services.”
In addition to his role as deputy mayor, Cr Trevor is also spokesperson for the council’s Environment and Natural Resources portfolio.
Cr Trevor said he would be available regularly at the council’s Childers service centre in the old Isis Shire Council Chambers.
“I urge anyone who needs to speak with me to contact me on 0429 873 103.”
