Sights on a Golden Guitar for Matthew
TALENTED young local artist Matthew Munro has his sights set on a career in the music industry as a singer and songwriter.
The ambitious teen is a fan of country music and has plans to release his first country EP later this year with his own music and a possible cover song.
Matthew has a long list of accomplishments including performing at the Gympie Muster and busking at the Tamworth Festival.
With his first talent quest at the age of 12, he follows the country music circuit and has performed on many stages around Queensland.
“I want to succeed in the music industry and to be a positive influence for others,”
The shy teen said his friends like is voice but no so keen on the genre of music.
“I have a wide variety of music I follow and my main influences are Adam Brand and Hunter Hayes,”
“They are two artists I look up too and aspire to be like,”
The talented musician picked up the guitar and learnt to play only a few years ago under the watchful eye of his father.
“My dad taught me how to play the guitar then I went on to have lessons,”
When ask if he would apply for any or all of the reality talent shows he said no.
“I don’t think I could handle the critiques from the judges,”
Matthew has a list of accomplishments, performing at River Feast, the Bundaberg Easter Roundup and he was the junior male winner at the Tamworth Academy.
Matthew applied for a spot in this year’s Childers Festival and has his fingers crossed for a slot on the main stage to entertain the thousands of visitors.
Even with his long list of awards and venues played, he still suffers from nerves before any performance.
“I enjoy music and hopefully I will make it my career,” he said.
Matthew will be on stage at the Isis Club in Childers on April 29.
Matthew Munro will be a name to remember, his talent and ambition will take him far and possibly many Golden Guitars.
