A 48-YEAR-OLD man from Isis River has died after he was hit by a gum tree while chainsawing at his private property last weekend.

Emergency services were called to the Aerodrome Rd property about 6.40pm on Saturday, where the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

He had suffered a severe head injury and it’s believed the tree he was cutting down fell on him.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said the man was last seen by others at the rural property about 2pm on Saturday and it was unclear exactly what time the incident occurred.

Childers police confirmed they were investigating the incident but at this stage it appeared to be accidental.
