Dashcam catches danger
A CLOSE call for one driver who was almost taken out by an oncoming semi-trailer last Tuesday as it lost control on Goodwood Rd, Childers.
Dashcam footage shows the moment a trailer skids into the path of an oncoming sedan.
A Queensland Police spokesman said the matter had been reported to the police and was being investigated.
“The incident happened at 8.30am and it was reported the semi-trailer was trying to overtake a sedan on double white lines,” he said.
“Police are currently in the process of reviewing the footage. And we have the number plate of the company so it will all be followed up.”
He said as technology advanced and dashcams became more available, it helped police not only with traffic matters but was significant in other crimes.
“We are able to use footage from dashcams to help with things like homicide cases,” he said.
Facebook group Dash Cam Owners Australia posted the video to its page on Sunday with an outcry from the public not only about the driver of the truck but also the danger of the road which it was on.
Facebooker Peter Heinz said he drove the road often.
“Pretty sure that’s Goodwood Rd, just past the Isis Golf Club,” he said.
“Either way, stupid move by the driver; you can’t see over the hill where he was, that’s why it’s double white lines.”
Jim Symes said he knew the driver and advised he was given a written warning by the truck’s company.
