Mem­bers en­joyed a sin­gle stable­ford competition spon­sored by the club on Satur­day. Clin­ton Dowl­ing recorded a re­mark­able 44 points, with a round off the stick of 66 gross. This equals the course record cur­rently held by Leigh Cronin, Chris Crouch and Clin­ton’s son, Blake. Clin­ton will re­gret not hav­ing one shot less. Clin­ton is hit­ting form at the right time lead­ing into the Cham­pi­onships later this month. Other good scores in­cluded Peter Hut­ton’s 40 points to be run­ner-up fol­lowed by Ki­eth Rule on 39, third on a count­back from Mark McAu­lay. Run­downs went to Terry Small­man (37), Michael Stan­ton (36) and Roger Draper (34). Clin­ton (2.7m) also won the A Di­vi­sion pin­shot on 1&10, Roger (0.14m) the B Di­vi­sion ap­proach. Dave Robin­son (5.87m) won the A Di­vi­sion pin­shot on 4&13, no B Di­vi­sion player reach­ing the green off the tee. Fiona Dowl­ing won the Labour Day sin­gle stable­ford competition with another good score of 38 points, one more than run­ner-up, Peter Hrelja. Run­downs went to Kev Den­ham and vis­i­tor Jacob Bee-Gill. Next Satur­day is Monthly Medals stroke competition for May – look for­ward to a strong field and tasty plates for an af­ter game snack.


Rose Cochrane recorded nett 70 to win the Ladies’ stroke competition on Thurs­day. Jen­nifer McKay was run­ner-up with nett 74. Kerry Sch­nack with 75 nett won a run­down and also the ladies’ ap­proach, her sec­ond shot 0.40m from the hole. This Thurs­day mem­bers will play for this month’s Monthly Medal. Mer­ryn Henke won the sin­gle stable­ford competition (her first for a Satur­day) with 39 points from Vicki McAu­lay on 36 points. Run­downs went to Co­ralie Vol­gyesi (36) and Joan Wright (35). Joan (1.31m) also won the ladies’ ap­proach on 4&13. This Satur­day we play for the Monthly Medal for May – see you there and please bring a plate for an af­ter game snack.


This week the four ball best ball brought out the com­pet­i­tive spirit in some play­ers, no more so than Nigel Radin and Larry Per­shouse who recorded 47 points over­all to win from Jen­nifer and Ian McKay on 44 points, with Dave Robin­son and Mark McAu­lay third on 43 points, on a count­back from Ed Con­nell and Paul McCar­ragher. Kev Sav­age (in the hole) won the Men’s ap­proach on 1&10; Terry Small­man (0.125m) the Com­bined ap­proach on 4&1`3; Lisa Cooney (0.38m) the Ladies’ ap­proach on 6&15. Harry Zawacki led the Chook Run win­ners with 27 nett from Nigel Radin (32), Dave Robin­son and Terry Small­man (33. Next week we play for the Childer­bor­ough Cup at home, with hit-off at 9am.
