Up­grade to boat ramp

MEM­BER for Bur­nett Stephen Ben­nett has wel­comed main­te­nance works which will com­mence soon to im­prove the con­di­tion of the Woodgate boat ramp near First Av­enue.

Mr Ben­nett said the Woodgate boat ramp had de­te­ri­o­rated over the years.

“I welcome th­ese struc­tural re­pairs which will ul­ti­mately im­prove the ex­pe­ri­ence for the lo­cal boat­ing com­mu­nity as well as vis­i­tors to the re­gion,” he said.

“Th­ese up­grades have been a long time com­ing and I’m de­lighted to hear this im­por­tant pub­lic fa­cil­ity will be re­paired.

“It’s great to see the Depart­ment of Trans­port and Main Roads has ac­knowl­edged that there is a need to up­grade this im­por­tant fa­cil­ity.”

Works will in­clude re­pairs to the sub-struc­ture and en­sure the struc­tural con­di­tion of the ramp con­tin­ues to han­dle on­go­ing traf­fic de­mand.

The works are ex­pected to be com­pleted by mid-July, weather per­mit­ting.
