Ideal golfing conditions led to some fine scores in the May Monthly Medals competitions. Stephen Cole won A Division with 68 nett from Kev Savage on 69, with rundowns to Dave Robinson (72) and Ray Walker (74). In B Division Ivan Philpott fired a 65 nett to win from Ross Nicol with 67 nett, with rundowns to Harry Zawacki (70) and Larry Pershouse (71). Steve also claimed the A Division pinshot on 1&10 (6.1m) and on 4&13 (5.35m), while Norm Plath (1.53m) won the B Division approach on 1&10. Members enjoyed the after-game snack brought by themselves and prepared by June, a round of applause for ourselves and June. Next week another club sponsored single stableford unless members prefer a stroke versus par competition.
Rose Cochrane recorded nett 73 to win the Ladies’ Monthly Medal competition on Thursday, from Val Plath on 74, with a rundown to Joan Wright on 76. Coralie Volgyesi (0.65m) won the approach. This Thursday members will play a Bisque Bogey competition. Robyn Robison won the May Monthly Medal with 73 nett from Helen Ricciardi on 75, with a rundown to Fiona Dowling on 76. Fiona (0.40m) also won the ladies’ approach on 6&15. Members very much appreciated the after-game snack and thanks to those who supplied and prepared the tasty offerings. This Saturday we play a single stableford sponsored by the club, unless members decide otherwise.
The visit by Maryborough Vets certainly favoured the locals, winning the Childerborough Cup quite comfortably. No doubt the return visit won’t prove as easy. In individual competition Alan Ball won A Division with 36 points from Kev Savage on 35 and Phil Luckett on 34. Kaz Jeffrey won B Division with 45 points (!) from Paul McCarragher on 39, with Ray Burrowes third on 34. For the visitors Ann McCleery won with 35 points from John Kellegher on 33 and Kevin Campbell on 31. Kev Savage (0.07m) won the Men’s approach on 1&10; Brian Sharp (0.265m) the Combined approach on 4&13; Christine Maher (in the hole) the Ladies’ approach on 6&15. Lazlo Volgyesi led the Chook Run winners with 32 nett from Kev Denham, Harry Zawacki (33) and Val Plath (34) on a spin. Next Tuesday, we play another single stableford before the stroke event on V.I.P. Tuesday. See you there for the 12 noon hit-off.
Mother’s Day we had 23 players turn up for a game of Four Ball Best Ball. We couldn’t have hoped for better weather. The winners on the day from a count back with 25 were Chris Fitzsimons and Ross Nicol. 2nd position who also came in with a 25 was Domonic Mete and Rob Blows, with 3rd position with a 24 going to Peter Mac and Scot Lucas. A-Grade nearest the pin on the 1st went to Dave Durie, while the B-Grade approach on the 1st went to Kas Jeffrey. The combined longest drive was taken out by Scot Lucas and the Centre fairway shot was won by Domonic Mete. The combined nearest the pin on the 6th along with the approach on the 7th was won by Terry Smallman. The Golden Circle on the 4/13th is still held by Scot Lucas at 4.4m. Being a partners game no-one was cut in handicap. (Lucky for some) For those that didn’t show today we are still waiting for conformation on the date against the Light House for later this month. Next week we will be playing a Stableford on the back nine. Tee off will be at 8.00 am whilst Breakfast will start around 7.30am and as always Visitors and new members are welcome.
