Gin Gin Show Ball

A big night of glitz and glamour to celebrate tradition

Isis Town and Country - - Kolan News -

THE prestigious annual Gin Gin Show Ball was in full swing last Saturday night as the Gin Gin RSL Hall played host to the sold out event.

About 270 elegantly dressed guests stepped into a wonderland as they walked through the RSL doors and where treated to a delicious three course meal provided by Gin Gin Hospitality.

The florescent lights were replaced with candles, as the warm glow slowly warmed the ballroom setting.

It was a fine dining experience, set with the humble tones and sounds from the band, A to Z.

The band’s faultless performance was enjoyed by the guests and organisers and they had the dance for rocking into the early hours of Sunday morning.

Show Society president Judy Honor took to the stage thanking the community for supporting the show.

Mrs Honor spoke of the importance of rural agricultural shows and continuing traditions such as the Miss Showgirl quest.

“Agricultural and farming is a major part of rural communities and the show brings the community together,” she said.

The annual ball marks the opening to the show and brings the community together to show support for local farming.

The Gin Gin Show is set for this weekend and organisers are expecting record numbers through the gates.

“The show will have all the usual favourites including new and exciting events,” Mrs Honor said.

Also on Saturday night, the 2016 Gin Gin Miss Showgirl was crowned.

The beautifully-dressed entrants all took to the stage for their final questions.

The grace and poise of the young ladies made it difficult for judges as they finalised their score cards.

It was a long wait for entrants as the judges thanked this year’s entrants in the Miss Showgirl quest before announcing Rebecca Green as the senior Miss Showgirl.

The 2016 Junior Miss Showgirl is Kathryn Walker with rural Ambassador Zac McNally.

Miss Showgirl runner-up was Jessie Dingle and Junior Miss Showgirl runner-up was Tasma Gane.

The show will have all the usual favourites including new and exciting events.
