THE Sacred Heart Catholic Church hosted a procession to celebrate Corpus Christi last Sunday morning.

It’s been many years since the last procession and the Catholic community of Childers is hoping to make the procession an annual tradition for years to come.

Over 60 parishioners and visitors from Bundaberg and Agnes Water accompanied the Eucharistic through the streets around the church.

Fr Sunny Mathew carried the monstrance containing the Blessed Sacrament beneath a canopy carried by Anthony Russo, Joe Russo, Brian Larter and Barry Cochrane.

Joe Russo said he remembered carrying the same canopy when he was a very young man.

The procession was led by Angelo La Rocca carrying the crucifix.
