Free wifi roll out in Childers

WITH the con­tin­ued roll­out of free pub­lic wifi across the re­gion and more projects on the way, Bundaberg Re­gional Coun­cil is mak­ing it even eas­ier for res­i­dents to stay con­nected.

Coun­cil­lor He­len Black­burn said a num­ber of the re­gion’s parks and pub­lic spa­ces now had freely avail­able in­ter­net ac­cess un­der the SwitchedOnBRC+ ini­tia­tive.

“Res­i­dents can now con­nect to coun­cil’s pub­lic wifi through mo­bile de­vices and lap­tops in de­fined lo­ca­tions in Bundaberg, Gin Gin, Childers and Bar­gara un­der the switched on pro­gram,” Cr Black­burn said.

“Th­ese WiFi hotspots have been rolled out un­der the SwitchedOnBRC ban­ner.” Mayor Jack Dempsey said over com­ing months, coun­cil will in­stall the ac­cess points for pub­lic WiFi con­nec­tion which will en­able in­ter­net ac­cess through­out the CBD from a dis­tance of up to 100m from the CCTV in­fra­struc­ture.”
