Thieves target Bunns Rd home
A CHILDERS woman has been dealt a double blow after her fire-damaged home was targeted by thieves.
Childers police officer-in-charge Sergeant Geoff Fay said on Tuesday afternoon a small fire started at the Bunns Rd address before later that night unknown offenders entered the house.
While the fire is not considered suspicious, police are investigating the theft of a couple of bottles of scotch.
“The lady had a log in the fire the night before because of the cold weather and she went to clean the fire out and there was a log that she thought was out so she put it on a piece of newspaper on the floor,” Sgt Fay said.
“She was outside mowing the lawn and about half an hour later she looked around and saw flames and the house was on fire. The fire brigade put it out.”
Sgt Fay said when the woman returned to the house Wednesday morning she found someone had unlawfully entered the house and stolen two bottles of scotch.
LOCAL ROAD: Bunns Rd at Apple Tree Creek.
