LOCAL traders are being encouraged to take advantage of the Childers Festival and promote their town and their businesses through a window dressing competition.

Divisional representative Councillor Bill Trevor said the Childers Festival was a significant platform to display the region to its best advantage to tens of thousands of people.

“There are various ways local businesses can get involved in the festival and I know many have grabbed the opportunity with both hands,” Cr Trevor said.

“The Childers Butchery has even crafted a 2016 Childers Festival sausage and Vintner’s Secret will release the 2016 Childers Festival wine, a sparkling rosé.

“However getting involved in the festival can be as simple as participating in our window decorating competition to draw festival-goers in to your business and show them that the entire town is right behind the celebrations.”

Cr Trevor said the competition, organised in partnership with the Childers Chamber of Commerce, carried the theme of A Taste of Childers.

“People travel from all over the state to attend the festival and experience A Taste of Childers so it is only fitting that our shop fronts display this message loud and proud through window decorations.

“Any business within the postcode 4660 can participate.”

Entry formscan be found at the Childers Service Centre or online at bund

Nominations close Friday, July 15, and all window displays must be completed a minimum of two weeks before the festival and remain in place until Monday, August 1.

WINDOW DRESSING: The Old Pharmacy was one of nine Childers businesses that got into the spirit of the Childers Festival with a window display competition.
