“Cage fighters: they’re people too” seems to be the message of this interesting documentary, which follows the lives of three Australian cage fighters for a year, as they risk it all in the world’s toughest sport. Newcomer Claire Todd is preparing for her first fight at Australia’s biggest MMA tournament. For Ali Cevik, cage fighting gives his life a structure and discipline that, he says, has kept him out of jail. Mechanic Martin Nguyen (above) is using his talents to try to secure his family’s financial future. A story of pressure, sacrifice and life and death decisions, it’s a far cry from the stereotype of an ultra-violent free-for-all.
