OperaQ artists will host mu­sic work­shops in Childers

ARTISTS se­lected to per­form at the Childers Fes­ti­val by OperaQ will also per­form along­side work­shop par­tic­i­pants in the Isis Cul­tural Cen­tre dur­ing the Childers Fes­ti­val on July 31.

Ste­wart Kelly – pi­ano

(work­shop fa­cil­i­ta­tor) is one of Aus­tralia’s most eclec­tic pi­anists, per­form­ing reg­u­larly as soloist, duo part­ner, vo­cal ac­com­pa­nist and cham­ber mu­si­cian. Ste­wart is a grad­u­ate of the QUT, the Queens­land Con­ser­va­to­rium Grif­fith Univer­sity and the Aus­tralian Na­tional Acad­emy of Mu­sic.

He holds a Bach­e­lor of Mu­sic with dis­tinc­tion and a Mas­ter of Mu­sic Stud­ies.

In 2014 he was ap­pointed as a Fel­low of the Aus­tralian Na­tional Acad­emy of Mu­sic.

Irena Ly­siuk isa clas­si­cally trained, ver­sa­tile so­prano with more than 10 years of per­for­mance ex­pe­ri­ence.

With a bach­e­lor of Mu­sic in Per­for­mance and Ped­a­gogy, ma­jor­ing in clas­si­cal voice, Irena has learnt pri­mar­ily from es­teemed vo­cal coach and so­prano Mar­garet Schindler. She is cur­rently study­ing a post grad­u­ate diploma of mu­sic stud­ies ma­jor­ing in opera per­for­mance

Tim Car­roll isa pas­sion­ate and ver­sa­tile per­former.

Grad­u­at­ing from Trinity Col­lege of Lon­don in 2012 with his ATCL in Act­ing Skills and Speech and Drama, he was ac­cepted into the Queens­land Con­ser­va­to­rium where he com­pleted a Bach­e­lor of Mu­sic (Mu­si­cal Theatre) un­der the di­rec­tion of Paul Sabey.

While study­ing at the QCGU, Tim per­formed as Ali Halkim in Ok­la­homa. Jonathan Hick­eys jour­ney be­gan at the age of nine when he won a choral schol­ar­ship with St John’s Cathe­dral. His con­fi­dence and abil­ity led to many tre­ble solo per­for­mances rang­ing from Isaac in Brit­ten’s Abra­ham and

Isaac, to the haunt­ing Mis­ere by Al­le­gri. His mu­si­cal theatre per­for­mances be­gan at age 11 play­ing lead roles in Oliver”. Nick Kirkup (work­shop

fa­cil­i­ta­tor)has been an ac­tive per­former in and around Queens­land since 2005.

Dur­ing this time he ap­peared in many roles for the USQ Opera Stu­dio and the Bris­bane Con­ser­va­to­rium Opera Stu­dio.

In 2010 Nick was the re­cip­i­ent of the pres­ti­gious $20,000 Joyce Camp­bell Lloyd schol­ar­ship which al­lowed him to un­der­take fur­ther study at the Guild­hall School

of Mu­sic and Drama in Lon­don. Clarissa Fo­ulcher

(work­shop fa­cil­i­ta­tor) holds a Diploma of Opera from the Syd­ney Con­ser­va­to­rium of Mu­sic, as well as achiev­ing a dis­tinc­tion in her Li­cen­ti­ate of Mu­sic with the AMEB and is an ac­com­plished per­former of opera, ora­to­rio and mu­si­cal theatre.

She has toured Amer­ica and Canada as a soloist with the Syd­ney Con­ser­va­to­rium Cho­rale and has been the mezzo soloist for Han­del’s Mes­siah in the Syd­ney Town­hall, Men­delssohn’s Eli­jah (broad­cast on ABC FM) and Bach’s St John Pas­sion un­der con­duc­tor Richard Gill.
