Quality performers line up
OperaQ artists will host music workshops in Childers
ARTISTS selected to perform at the Childers Festival by OperaQ will also perform alongside workshop participants in the Isis Cultural Centre during the Childers Festival on July 31.
Stewart Kelly – piano
(workshop facilitator) is one of Australia’s most eclectic pianists, performing regularly as soloist, duo partner, vocal accompanist and chamber musician. Stewart is a graduate of the QUT, the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University and the Australian National Academy of Music.
He holds a Bachelor of Music with distinction and a Master of Music Studies.
In 2014 he was appointed as a Fellow of the Australian National Academy of Music.
Irena Lysiuk isa classically trained, versatile soprano with more than 10 years of performance experience.
With a bachelor of Music in Performance and Pedagogy, majoring in classical voice, Irena has learnt primarily from esteemed vocal coach and soprano Margaret Schindler. She is currently studying a post graduate diploma of music studies majoring in opera performance
Tim Carroll isa passionate and versatile performer.
Graduating from Trinity College of London in 2012 with his ATCL in Acting Skills and Speech and Drama, he was accepted into the Queensland Conservatorium where he completed a Bachelor of Music (Musical Theatre) under the direction of Paul Sabey.
While studying at the QCGU, Tim performed as Ali Halkim in Oklahoma. Jonathan Hickeys journey began at the age of nine when he won a choral scholarship with St John’s Cathedral. His confidence and ability led to many treble solo performances ranging from Isaac in Britten’s Abraham and
Isaac, to the haunting Misere by Allegri. His musical theatre performances began at age 11 playing lead roles in Oliver”. Nick Kirkup (workshop
facilitator)has been an active performer in and around Queensland since 2005.
During this time he appeared in many roles for the USQ Opera Studio and the Brisbane Conservatorium Opera Studio.
In 2010 Nick was the recipient of the prestigious $20,000 Joyce Campbell Lloyd scholarship which allowed him to undertake further study at the Guildhall School
of Music and Drama in London. Clarissa Foulcher
(workshop facilitator) holds a Diploma of Opera from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, as well as achieving a distinction in her Licentiate of Music with the AMEB and is an accomplished performer of opera, oratorio and musical theatre.
She has toured America and Canada as a soloist with the Sydney Conservatorium Chorale and has been the mezzo soloist for Handel’s Messiah in the Sydney Townhall, Mendelssohn’s Elijah (broadcast on ABC FM) and Bach’s St John Passion under conductor Richard Gill.
