Red Collar Rescue will mind visitors’ dogs during festival

Isis Town and Country - - News -

THIS year’s Childers Festival could see you nabbing a prime parking spot or not having to drive at all.

Council spokesman Cr Judy Peters said, with up to 40,000 people descending on Childers, knowing where the available parking options were located before heading to Childers could make people’s trips much easier.

“There is free parking at the Childers Showground with parking for disabled parking permit holders available on the corner of Crescent and Lord sts,” Cr Peters said.

“Park’n’ride services will be offered throughout the day, between 9am and 3.30pm. There will be four coaches running continuously collecting patrons from designated parking areas such as the Childers Show grounds, and along the Bruce Hwy.

“Keep an eye out for our park’n’ride signs for pick-up locations and parking signs which will help guide motorists to the show grounds.

Cr Peters said festivalgoers should also be aware, apart from registered guide dogs, this was a “no-dog” event.

“We understand that some people may travel to the festival with their pets or prefer not to leave them at home for the day so Red Collar Rescue Inc will be onsite at the Childers Show ground offering a dog-minding service.

“This service will be available from 9am–3.30pm at a cost of $10/dog, dogs are shaded, water, exercise and of course, companionship,

All funds raised support Red Collar Rescue.”
