Food and fun at the Childers Fes­ti­val

WITH more than 400 food and mar­ket stalls set to line the streets of Childers this Sun­day as part of the 2016 Childers Fes­ti­val.

Bund­aberg Re­gional Coun­cil Com­mu­nity and Cul­tural port­fo­lio spokesper­son Judy Peters said the fes­ti­val would of­fer a wide va­ri­ety of mul­ti­cul­tural food stalls.

“The Childers Fes­ti­val is an op­por­tu­nity for many peo­ple to try some­thing new, whether that be Greek, Ja­panese or Ar­gen­tinian cui­sine,” Cr Peters said.

“Of course our beau­ti­ful lo­cal pro­duce will also be well rep­re­sented with Vint­ners Se­cret Win­ery launch­ing the 2016 Childers Fes­ti­val Wine and Childers Butch­ery launch­ing the 2016 Childers Fes­ti­val sausage.

“There will be some­thing for the sweet tooth as well with baked goods, lol­lies, fudge and ice cream among the tempt­ing treats avail­able.”

Cr Peters said the wide va­ri­ety of mar­ket stalls on of­fer would make for an en­joy­able day of brows­ing.

“Many stall­hold­ers will be of­fer­ing hand-crafted, unique items that you can’t find in a shop­ping cen­tre,” she said.

“Th­ese mar­ket stalls have a rep­u­ta­tion for qual­ity and va­ri­ety.

“It’s sure to pro­vide hours of en­joy­ment for the avid shop­per.”

There will also be plenty of live en­ter­tain­ment and roam­ing street per­form­ers.

The fes­ti­val will see over 40,000 vis­i­tors flood the streets with ex­cite­ment and there will be plenty of thrills for the en­tire fam­ily to have.

The an­nual fes­ti­val is set to kicks off to­day at 3.30pm with the Isis Cen­tral Mill and Cane Fire Tour.
