Childers set to host Seniors Week events
BUNDABERG Regional Council is partnering with the Committee on the Ageing Bundaberg (COTA) and the Bundaberg Region Seniors Network to deliver a full calendar of events to celebrate Seniors Week from August 13 to 21.
Community and Cultural Services portfolio spokesperson Cr Judy Peters said Childers Arts Space (CHARTS) would hold Seniors Week events under the COTA banner.
“Seniors Week is an opportunity for all residents to celebrate the valued contributions seniors make within our community,” Cr Peters said.
“Residents of all ages can also enjoy a morning tea and floor talk with glass artist Neriel Dobbs at the Fifty Shades of Glass exhibition at CHARTS on August 18.”
Cr Peters said the free Seniors Week movie, The Intern, at the Moncrieff would also be an opportunity for the council to officially launch ticket sales for the Queensland Symphony Orchestra’s (QSO) performance of Handel’s Messiah to be held on December 15.
Other events being held as part of COTA’s local Seniors Week celebrations include the acknowledgement of all seniors at church services throughout the region on August 14, the Seniors Expo at Bundaberg Civic Centre on August 16 and free steam train rides at the Botanic Garden on August 19.
