Gin Gin rowing club set for competition
A YOUNG future rowing Olympian from Gin Gin is setting her sights high as she prepares for the upcoming Queensland state championships.
Maddison Clayton said she was excited to be part of the rowing team and looking forward to the championships.
The reserve at Bucca will hold this year’s three-day event event from September 17–19.
“I am trying to raise funds for new uniforms and equipment for our team,” Maddison said.
With Australian Olympians currently in Rio, Maddison has her sights set on Tokyo in 2020.
Her supportive mum, Marie said she was proud of her daughter and was focussing on the next Olympic games.
“We have a small club and we need more sponsors and supporters, to help with the purchase of new equipment,” Marie said.
“We have a good chance in the State championships next month to bring home some medals,”
The Gin Gin community rowing supporters club believe in promoting health and well being of youth and promote community.
