open champion and ladies’ open champion added to their trophies with a decisive win over Kev Savage and Vicki McAulay, Damien Dowling and Helen Ricciardi last Sunday.

For several years Clinton and Fiona have claimed the championship, with the exception of only one year.

The Dowlings’ sons are low markers like their father, with Blake on scratch for his handicap.

Both have ensured their father has no monopoly on the men’s open championship, Blake winning in 2014 and Damien twice before.

This year is Fiona’s third win as she continues to bring her handicap ever lower.

Chris Crouch, a former champion, also shares the record.

With his return to Isis later this year, it makes for an interesting 2017 championship year.

It’s a pity Blake is at university in Brisbane but he will be sure to return for some games during the year.

For their commitment to golf, their many sterling performances, the Dowlings are a force on the green and respected members of Isis Golf Club.
