ABBNOVA on stage in Childers

MEGGA ABBANOVA per­formed to a small but ap­pre­cia­tive au­di­ence at the Isis Club last Sun­day af­ter­noon.

The funds raised are go­ing to­wards Pilot­light Pro­duc­tions’ young mem­bers del­e­ga­tion to NIDA in Oc­to­ber.

Tony Carey of Pilot­light said he needed help to get the group to NIDA.

“This is a once in a life­time op­por­tu­nity to our mem­bers.”

The dance troupe will hold its next fundrais­ing af­ter­noon with a Karaoke Com­pe­ti­tion on Septem­ber 25 from 2pm at the Isis Club.

There will be a small en­try fee, and those who go along will have the chance to win a $50 cash prize for best man and woman karaoke singer and also best male and fe­male un­der 18.

Mr Carey is en­cour­ag­ing the com­mu­nity to sup­port the fundrais­ing ef­fort to get the team to NIDA.

The Gofundme page has seen lit­tle ac­tion in more than a month, with a con­tri­bu­tion to­talling $140 fall­ing well short of the group’s tar­get.

Pilot­light Pro­duc­tions is a com­mu­nity-based not-for-profit as­so­ci­a­tion, ded­i­cated to train­ing lo­cal youth in all as­pects of per­for­mance.

As a mem­ber of the As­so­ci­a­tion of Com­mu­nity Theatre Inc, the ACT an­nounced the pro­gram for its 23rd bi­en­nial con­ven­tion, set for Septem­ber 30 to Oc­to­ber 3.

The team from Childers plans to or­gan­ise a del­e­ga­tion to at­tend week­end of work­shops.
