TOASTMASTERS has been providing a program in Childers since late last year, to give the community the opportunity to learn skills to speak with confidence.

The Area 10 Director for District 69 in Toastmasters, Dawn Smith has been running the Speechcraft Program.

The eight-week Youth Leadership Program was held at the Isis High School, with the students gaining new skills and confidence.

The Lions Club has been supportive and provided funds to purchase work books, lights and a gavel.

The club presented a cheque to acting principal Chris Gill. Mr Gill said Toastmasters was a public speaking program for senior students, gaining new skills and confidence.

“It culminates in a graduation where students receive a certificate recognising their proficiency in public speaking,” he said.
