A GROUP of artists bases itself in the small rural community of Monto.

The six ladies are the stewards for the Monto Show Art competition, with more than 60 entrants in this year’s show.

The Gin Gin Courthouse Gallery is pleased to present Artists Friends featuring the artwork from the Monto Art Group.

This exhibition features paintings depicting local scenes, seascapes, wildlife and landscapes and comprises a collection of 43 paintings in a variety of media including watercolours, pastels, oil, acrylic and mixed media.

Gin Gin Regional Courthouse Gallery director Joanne Wright said the artists from Monto showcased their work every two years.

“Their work is very impressive and the gallery is proud to host talented artists.

“We have plenty of art on display in the gallery gift shop, all by local artists,” Mrs Wright said.

A small intimate crowd strolled through the exhibition opening, proud to see their working hanging on the walls of the gallery.

The art group members are caretakers for the Monto Cultural Centre and hold exhibitions in the gallery.

The Artists Friends exhibition is open to the public and they encourage visitors to Gin Gin to visit the display.

The exhibition runs until October 12. For further details contact the gallery on 4157 2154.
