THE annual New York World Wine and Spirits Competition has awarded a $15 South Australian shiraz with the top honour of Best Shiraz.

The 2015 Taylors Promised Land Shiraz came out on top in the highly competitive shiraz category and received the highest recognition of a Double Gold medal at the prestigious annual competition held on Fifth Avenue.

It was a hat-trick for Taylors’ shiraz wines, with gold medals also going to the 2015 Estate Shiraz ($20) and 2015 Reserve Parcel Shiraz ($25).

This is the first time the winery has won a trophy at these awards but follows on three Double Gold medals in 2015 for the 2013 St Andrews Shiraz, 2014 Estate Shiraz and 2014 Estate Merlot.

Taylors’ third generation managing director Mitchell Taylor (pictured) said he was thrilled to see the family’s Promised Land range succeed at such a prestigious international competition.
