Movies under the stars
MOVIES Under the Stars will be showing at outdoor venues across the region in coming months.
Outdoors movies have proved to be popular community events, with Bundaberg Regional Council encouraging locals to attend.
Mayor Jack Dempsey said with the football season almost “done and dusted” the opportunity was ripe for families to take to the beautiful outdoors on a Friday night and enjoy a free family friendly movie at locations in Bundaberg, Gin Gin and Childers.
“Movies Under the Stars” will start at Alexandra Park in Bundaberg this Friday with the engaging family movie “Alvin and the Chipmunks – The Road Chip”.
“The Bundaberg region boasts some of the nation’s best weather and we want families to take a few hours to enjoy the opportunity to bring along blankets and folding chairs and watch the movie on the big screen provided.
“There is absolutely no charge to attend the screening which starts at 7pm, with food and drinks available for sale from 6pm,” Cr Dempsey said.
“This is all about enjoying our region, enjoying family time and free entertainment.”
Community and Cultural Services portfolio spokeswoman Cr Judy Peters said residents in Gin Gin would have a showing of a movie at Gin Gin Showgrounds on Friday, October 28.
“Childers residents can attend Apex Tramway Park in Crescent St on Friday, November 25.
Cr Peters said the council strongly supported family units and free movies provided an opportunity for all residents to enjoy the glorious spring evenings and community interaction.
