RSL and firies upgrades thanks to funding

Isis Town and Country - - News | Welcome -

IT’S the site of many an exchange of beer and coin but it’s been 15 years since the bar itself at the Childers RSL got much love.

That will change thanks to a grant of $18,113 from the Community Gambling Fund, which funds a makeover.

“We’re over the moon,” the RSL sub-branch’s Roy Owen said.

As well as the bar indoors, the club will install a shaded alfresco area out the back.

The Gregory River Rural Fire Service will also benefit with $17,000 from the fund to build a new shed – a welcome relief after vital equipment was recently sabotaged off site.

Burnett MP Stephen Bennett was thrilled to deliver the good news to both groups and will personally supply the flagpoles for the firies.

BOOST FOR BAR: Brian Terry, Stephen Bennett, Vicky McCarthy, Bob Armstrong, Judy Bohm-Parr, Roy Owen and Paul Collier.
