The gen­tle breeze en­sured that mem­bers en­joyed the af­ter­noon’s sin­gle stable­ford com­pe­ti­tion, with some strong scor­ing.

Peter Hrelja recorded 39 points to win from Kev Savage with 36 points, se­cond on a count­back from Craig Reynolds, with run­downs to Roger Draper, Peter Hut­ton (35 each), Dean Page and Bill Her­ring (34 each).

Larry Per­shouse (0.72m) won the B Divi­sion ap­proach on 1&10; Nigel Radin (7.4m) won the A Divi­sion pin­shot on 4&13; Norm Plath (3.2m) won the B Divi­sion pin­shot there.

This Satur­day, mem­bers face the chal­lenge of the fi­nal Monthly Medal for 2016. Hope to see you all there, with a plate to share.

A re­minder: the an­nual Spon­sors’ Ap­pre­ci­a­tion Day oc­curs in two weeks on Novem­ber 12, pro­vid­ing the op­por­tu­nity to show how much we do ap­pre­ci­ate the sup­port of all spon­sors from within and

On last Thurs­day the ladies played a sin­gle stroke com­pe­ti­tion with Lisa Cooney win­ning with nett 71 from Jen­nifer McKay on 73. Kerry Sch­nack (1.76m) won the ap­proach.

This Thurs­day, the last Monthly Medal com­pe­ti­tion for 2016 will be played.

On Satur­day Rae McCliskie won with 35 points in the sin­gle stable­ford com­pe­ti­tion from Kerry Sch­nack on 34, with a run­down to Joan Kelly on 33. Kerry (0.31m) also won the ap­proach on 6&15.

Next Satur­day we play our fi­nal monthly medal sin­gle stroke com­pe­ti­tion for the year. See you there with a plate.

Don’t for­get the Spon­sors’ Ap­pre­ci­a­tion Day on Novem­ber 12. Vets

If they had been race horses a few play­ers would have to be tested after the re­sults in the Mel­bourne Cup sin­gle stable­ford com­pe­ti­tion.

The out­stand­ing per­for­mance was by Ray Walker who re­turned a score of 42 points to win A Divi­sion from Niel Rieck and Vicki McAu­lay both on 37, Niel se­cond on count­back.

Lisa Cooney recorded 37 points to win B Divi­sion on a count­back from Barry Steinke, with Rae McCliskie third on 36 points.

The ladies’ ap­proach on 6&15 was won by Vicki McAu­lay (0.69m); the men’s ap­proach on 1&10 by Nigel Radin (0.15m); the com­bined ap­proach on 4&13 by Rae McCliskie (0.75m).

Chook Run scores were much more re­al­is­tic this week: Vicki McAu­lay won with 30

nett from Rae McCliskie on 31, with He­len Ric­cia­rdi and Niel Rieck col­lect­ing the last two birds with 32 nett.

Sun­day 30: the weather turned on a good day for 19 golfers play­ing a Stable­ford on the back nine holes.

The win­ner with 22 was Bob Cochrane, los­ing 3.1 from his hand­i­cap. Se­cond place went to Al Ball on a count back with 21 and los­ing 1.6. In third place with 21 was Hoss Eberl who lost 1.4 from his hand­i­cap.

B-Grade ap­proach on the 10th hole was won by Paul McCar­ragher who also won the Cen­tre Fair­way Drive and the Com­bined Long­est Drive.

The Com­bined Near­est the Pin on the 13th and Men’s ap­proach on the 15th hole was won by Hoss Eberl. The Com­bined Near­est the Pin on the 14th hole was won by Bob Cochrane.

Next week we will be play­ing for the monthly mug which will be com­bined with the Cap­tain’s day. This will be an 18-hole event.

There will be more prizes on of­fer than usual so not a game to be missed. A re­minder to every­one the fol­low­ing week we have our se­cond and fi­nal match for the year against the Light­house.

Hope­fully we will be able to re­tain the tro­phy. Re­mem­ber it is a 7.30am hit off and as al­ways new mem­bers and vis­i­tors are wel­come.
