THE predicted weekend rain worried organisers of the official opening of the Gin Gin Swimming Pool’s new amenities block and 9th birthday celebration of the Gin Gin Community Bank.

The recent scorching heat had turned the grass brown and with the sudden downpour of rain the day broke Sunday morning to reveal lush green grass poolside.

Opening the celebration on behalf of Gin Gin Community Bank was branch president Paul Stehbens and Bundaberg Regional Councillor Wayne Honor.

Mr Stehbens said he wanted to bring the celebration to the public as it was the community that made it possible and has supported the Gin Gin Community Bank.

Standing proud for his community, Cr Wayne Honor addressed the crowd thanking them for supporting their local community bank.

Cr Honor said the wonderful facility wouldn’t have come about without a community partnership, a partnership which is important to our region, not just Gin Gin.

“I want to make special mention of 9th birthday of the Bendigo Community Bank, they are positive help and support for many of our community groups.

“It wouldn’t be possible without true partnering,”

The modern facilities of the pool will ensure every person of the community will be able to comfortably use the amenities without issues.

With larger rooms and modern fixtures, parents will be at ease cleaning up after baby.

The bank has returned almost $1 million back into the community as the profits are not kept in the bank’s coffers.

The money will continue to flow through the communities to improve, upgrade and develop new facilities for the locals.

It’s about the locals supporting locals and encouraging growth in regional areas.

The Gin Gin Pool amenities block would have to be the most modern building in town and the manager and staff of the pool are all proud show it off to the region.

Pool management would like to advise there will be no pass-out for guests once inside, and management recommends packing a picnic and make the most of the free barbecue facilities.
