AS WE DRAW closer to the cel­e­bra­tion sea­son it is time to start check­ing out the bub­bles on of­fer at the lo­cal liquor out­let.

Most of us go for the tried and tested, but for a change why not try some­thing a lit­tle dif­fer­ent.

Owned by the world’s largest pro­ducer of tra­di­tional method sparkling wines, Freix­enet Spain, the Win­gara Wine Group of­fers th­ese top-value drops.

Kat­nook Founder’s Block Sparkling Chardon­nay Pinot Noir NV (pic­tured left)

Sourced en­tirely from Kat­nook’s Coon­awarra vine­yards, the base wine is 80% Chardon­nay, 20% Pinot Noir blend which is par­tially ma­tured in older oak to add com­plex­ity.

The wine shows sweet pear, quince and caramel flavours, ac­com­pa­nied by a fine mousse and crisp acid fin­ish.

This wine rep­re­sents the pin­na­cle of Se­gura Vi­u­das’ wine styles, with the fo­cus on ele­gance. The fi­nal blend is made up of nine dif­fer­ent wines.
