Cane crush season records great harvest

Isis Town and Country - - News -

THE 2016 crushing campaign at Isis Mill was completed in the early hours of Sunday, November 27.

The season will be recorded in the 120 year old grower owned Sugar Mill’s history as the third highest seasonal throughput of cane.

Harvesting of the last of the cane crop was completed just ahead of widespread storms that rolled across the region during Saturday afternoon.

These storms delivered rainfall with recording around 100mm.

The team at Isis Mill worked diligently and safely to deliver this excellent result. The workforce has remained lost time injury free for more than three years and plan to celebrate this milestone along with the successful completion of the season in the coming weeks. When the Mill ground to a halt at 10 minutes to 1am on Sunday morning, 1,352,415.32 tonnes of cane had been processed at the Childers based sugar mill. To date CCS reached 14.09 units. Week 22 throughput was 71,654.48 tonnes of cane processed for a weekly average 15.09 units of CCS. As a result, the factory processed a record weekly sugar output to the Bundaberg Port with 11,050 tonnes of IPS sugar delivered, the highest sugar output in the 120 year history of the company.

With the rainfall of the last few days providing a strong start.

Water storages are near full capacity and sugar price remains strong.

We take this opportunity to thanks all stakeholders for their cooperation during the 2016 season and wish all a safe and happy Christmas with hopefully frequent rainfall.
