SALVOS RED SHIELD APPEAL:
THE Salvation Army in Heathridge is calling for volunteers to rattle a tin this weekend as part of its annual Red Shield Appeal.
Spokesman Warren Palmer said the organisation aimed to mobilise more than 60,000 volunteers across the country to help collect $8 million for people in crisis.
“For many people, hard times can simply be one pay cheque away, with many families in the local Wanneroo area and in Heathridge and Joondalup doing it tough and relying on The Salvation Army for support,” he said.
“We are seeing many new people who have not needed our support before.
“Just a few hours of your time can make a real difference for people experiencing hardship and gives hope where it’s needed the most.”
The Salvation Army helps people experiencing homelessness, family violence and addiction, and provides emergency relief and disaster response.
To be a collector, call 13 72 58 or register at www.salvationarmy.org.au/collect.
Donations can also be made over the phone, at salvos.org.au or at any Westpac bank branch.
