THE Sal­va­tion Army in Heathridge is call­ing for vol­un­teers to rat­tle a tin this week­end as part of its an­nual Red Shield Ap­peal.

Spokesman War­ren Palmer said the or­gan­i­sa­tion aimed to mo­bilise more than 60,000 vol­un­teers across the coun­try to help col­lect $8 mil­lion for peo­ple in cri­sis.

“For many peo­ple, hard times can sim­ply be one pay cheque away, with many fam­i­lies in the lo­cal Wan­neroo area and in Heathridge and Joon­dalup do­ing it tough and re­ly­ing on The Sal­va­tion Army for sup­port,” he said.

“We are see­ing many new peo­ple who have not needed our sup­port be­fore.

“Just a few hours of your time can make a real dif­fer­ence for peo­ple ex­pe­ri­enc­ing hard­ship and gives hope where it’s needed the most.”

The Sal­va­tion Army helps peo­ple ex­pe­ri­enc­ing home­less­ness, fam­ily vi­o­lence and ad­dic­tion, and pro­vides emer­gency relief and dis­as­ter re­sponse.
