Calendar dumping leads to date in court

Joondalup Times - - NEWS -

A PADBURY man was paid to deliver calendars but instead illegally dumped them in Jandabup bushland, Joondalup Magistrates Court was told this month.

Nathan Robert Green (25) was fined $3000 and ordered to pay $328 in costs after admitting he dumped calendars and pamphlets at a Warbrook Road site four times during September last year. On September 10, Department of Environment Regulation (DER) covert cameras captured Green driving his white Toyota Hilux loaded with bundles of the material to the site before leaving with an empty tray.

DER senior investigations manager Matt Warnock used the conviction as an example of the effectiveness of covert cameras. The department runs about 200 dumping investigations per year.

“This offender had been paid to deliver these calendars and instead drove to the bush and dumped them,” he said.

“This was blatant illegal dumping by someone who showed no respect for the law or the environment.”

Reports of illegal dumping can be made to 1300 784 782 or pollution au.
