THE City of Wanneroo set up a CCTV trailer at Mist Park in Banksia Grove last week after children found 11 syringes at the grounds. Local resident Carly Dudley told 6PR that children knocked on her door on Wednesday evening to show her “11 syringes or needle heads” they had gathered. “They’d nicked a pair of my gardening gloves to collect them – there’s probably 15 to 20 kids who play at the park every afternoon,” she said. “I can’t even count the amount of times that we’ve found needles in the park.” Community and place director Debbie Terelinck said the City was “extremely concerned” to hear of the find. “The City is taking action by deploying a CCTV trailer close to the park and rangers and community safety officers will monitor the area,” she said. She said parks and maintenance crews would increase their monitoring. Call police on 131 444 or local rangers on 9405 5000 during business hours and 1300 138 393 after hours.
