THE City of Wan­neroo set up a CCTV trailer at Mist Park in Banksia Grove last week af­ter chil­dren found 11 sy­ringes at the grounds. Lo­cal res­i­dent Carly Dud­ley told 6PR that chil­dren knocked on her door on Wed­nes­day evening to show her “11 sy­ringes or nee­dle heads” they had gath­ered. “They’d nicked a pair of my gar­den­ing gloves to col­lect them – there’s prob­a­bly 15 to 20 kids who play at the park ev­ery af­ter­noon,” she said. “I can’t even count the amount of times that we’ve found nee­dles in the park.” Com­mu­nity and place di­rec­tor Deb­bie Tere­linck said the City was “ex­tremely con­cerned” to hear of the find. “The City is tak­ing ac­tion by de­ploy­ing a CCTV trailer close to the park and rangers and com­mu­nity safety of­fi­cers will mon­i­tor the area,” she said.
