Finals or not, we must beat Crows
SO we come to the last game of the season and we are clinging to the hope of playing finals.
Unfortunately, after losing a tight game to GWS in Sydney on the weekend, our fate is no longer in our own hands.
The only bonus is that because we are playing the last game of the round, we will know exactly the equation we are facing.
By losing to the Giants, we have made it tough for ourselves.
It’s tough, but it is not impossible to make the finals and we’ll prepare as we normally would to get the win we need.
Because we have lost a few tight games this season after being in front, it’s going to to take a result or two from other games to allow us to proceed into finals, in addition to us beating the top-ofthe-table Crows of course.
Regardless of what’s at stake, we would like to produce a positive performance for our fans.
It will be the end of an era, with Matt Priddis and Sam Mitchell playing their last games for the club in what is also the last AFL game at Subiaco Oval.
Pridda, in particular, has been a terrific teammate and it will seem a bit odd next year when we go to battle without one of our toughest inside ball winners.
It goes without saying that he has been a superstar of our club and sets a wonderful example for everyone at the club.
No one has prepared better than Pridda in order to give himself the opportunity to play at his absolute best.
He does all the extra little things, which help to give him the edge and young guys at the club could not have a better role model to learn from. Maybe part of the incredible work ethic he has is a result of the fact he was overlooked in a couple of drafts before finally getting his opportunity on the Eagles’ rookie list.
But he has got everything out of himself and hopefully we will give him the farewell he deserves by winning on Sunday and progressing to the finals.
