Hol­i­days all at sea for sailors

THE TS Marmion naval cadets unit will host its an­nual sail­ing re­gatta north of Hillarys Boat Har­bour these school hol­i­days.

Cadets from Al­bany, Man­durah and Cock­burn will com­pete against lo­cal TS Marmion crews un­til Oc­to­ber 6 to take away the tro­phy.

All cadets from re­cruits to petty of­fi­cers are el­i­gi­ble to com­pete in a crew.

This year’s TS Marmion skip­pers are Finn Jackson, Jes­sica Bon­ner and Eve Jackson from Dun­craig Senior High School, and for­mer Min­darie High School stu­dent Alan­nah Brown.

“Along with the friendly com­pe­ti­tion, cadets will or­gan­ise an in­door rock climb­ing ac­tiv­ity, run a sport night, games night and quiz night,” com­mand­ing of­fi­cer Clare McCaskie said.

“All these ac­tiv­i­ties are de­signed to pro­mote lead­er­ship and de­velop team­work in our young peo­ple.”

The unit ac­cepts en­rol­ments from the year a child turns 13.
