A BURST water main caused flooding and road closures in Kingsley on Sunday, with a sinkhole opening and up and swallowing a car.

Water Corporation Perth regional manager Garth Walter said two properties had already flooded when crews responded to a broken water main on Kingsley Drive on October 8.

“The cause of the break is not yet known, however a full investigation will be carried out,” he said.

“Two properties were impacted by flooding from the broken water main – only one of these properties was impacted internally.

“One vehicle, which was located directly above the section of water main that broke, was removed from an adjacent area of road which had subsided.

“We are working with the impacted residents and have arranged for our customer service team to help the owner and tenant of the property with internal flooding and the vehicle owner with any insurance claims.

“Temporary accommodation has been arranged for the tenants while repairs are undertaken.”

A burst water pipe flooded homes in Kingsley on Sunday.
