YOUNG Girrawheen soccer players are sporting a new kit this season.

Emmanuel Christian Community School’s three soccer teams, which are playing in only their second season, received a $1000 grant from Bankwest for the new outfits.

“Our soccer program provides students who couldn’t afford to play for a club, the opportunity to play soccer,” sports teacher Will Cruz said.

“It also provides breakfast on days we train for those students involved in the team,” he said.

Bankwest head of community engagement Craig Spencer said the bank’s Easy Grants aimed to help communities and community groups at a grassroots level.

The Bankwest community grants program was launched in 2012 and has supported more than 1500 community groups, ranging from local schools to sporting clubs and emergency services.

Applications for grants, or to vote for a favourite club, can be made at www.bankwest.com. au/easygrants
