THE Padbury Education and Child Care Centre celebrated its 30th anniversary last month.

Manager Christine Donnelly said the community child care centre, used by about 300 families, held its anniversary celebration on November 17.

“The centre was opened in 1987 and is a not-for-profit, community-governed service,” she said.

“The service caters for children from six weeks of age and offers pre-kindy program and outside school hours service to the surrounding schools.

“The centre’s vision is ‘celebrating the magic of childhood’ and boasts brand new nature playgrounds and organic vegetable gardens, a warm nurturing environment, and a commitment to quality education and care.”

About 250 people attended the party, where entertainment included a magician, face painting, balloon twisting and an animal farm, as well as a dinosaur excavation dig, messy play and plaster painting.

“We also held a mini community expo where families were invited to advertise their local businesses and encourage our community to ‘buy local’,” Mrs Donnelly said.

Chairwoman Rebecca Kuenen said the service had recently achieved an exceeding rating from the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority.
