Top minds at Sorrento col­lege

SORRENTO stu­dents have been named na­tional cham­pi­ons af­ter com­pet­ing in the Tour­na­ment of Minds against teams from Aus­tralia, New Zealand and Thai­land in Adelaide re­cently.

Sa­cred Heart Col­lege’s science tech­nol­ogy team in­cluded years 7 to 10 stu­dents Jack Bai­ley, Lily BossBai­ley, Jack Du­cie, Olek Tin­dall, Sam­son Wheeler, De­clan Wil­liams and Josh Wilson who en­dured re­gional and state fi­nals be­fore qual­i­fy­ing for the na­tion­als.

The school’s engi­neer­ing math­e­mat­ics team also at­tended the na­tional fi­nals and won hon­ours.

ToM is an Asia Pa­cific prob­lem­solv­ing pro­gram and com­pe­ti­tion in both pri­mary and sec­ondary schools, which has taken place an­nu­ally since 1987.

The col­lege had en­tered eight teams in the re­gional fi­nals at ECU Joon­dalup and five of these won places to com­pete in the state fi­nals.
