RUBY Ea­gle (73) was the peo­ple’s choice win­ner at the WA Vol­un­teer of the Year awards.

She has vol­un­teered weekly at AQWA for more than 24 years, teach­ing young­sters about the ma­rine en­vi­ron­ment, con­ser­va­tion and tips to save en­dan­gered species, such as keep­ing wa­ter­ways clean.

She was also a teacher with Aus­tralian Vol­un­teers In­ter­na­tional in the Mar­shall Is­lands and vol­un­teers weekly at Perth Air­port.
