GIRRAWHEEN

A MAN who struck a se­cu­rity guard with a brick af­ter hurl­ing it at him in the carpark of a Girrawheen shop­ping cen­tre last month is still at large. Po­lice said the vic­tim had asked the of­fender to move his bike be­cause it was block­ing the en­trance to the shop­ping cen­tre about 8.05am on May 13 on Maranga­roo Drive. “The owner then picked up a brick and threw it at the guard, caus­ing im­me­di­ate pain, and then threat­ened the guard with a long piece of wood,” a po­lice state­ment said. In­ves­ti­ga­tors be­lieve the man pic­tured can help with in­quiries. He was thought to be 165cm tall and aged about 18. PO­LICE be­lieve the man pic­tured can help with in­quiries into a theft from a Banksia Grove liquor store this month. Call Wan­neroo po­lice on 9406 2222.

PADBURY

PO­LICE ar­rested a 27-year-old No­randa man af­ter a high­speed chase through Padbury last week. Of­fi­cers at­tempted to stop a green Holden Com­modore on War­bur­ton Av­enue around 10.30pm on June 7. The driver al­legedly failed to stop and drove reck­lessly through various streets be­fore head­ing north­bound on the Mitchell Free­way. The man was ar­rested a short time later on Nin­nis Place North and po­lice dis­cov­ered a hand­gun dur­ing a search of his car. Po­lice have charged the man with pos­sess­ing a firearm with cir­cum­stances of ag­gra­va­tion, driv­ing a ve­hi­cle with forged, replica or false plates, hav­ing no author­ity to drive, fail­ure to com­ply with a di­rec­tion to stop and reck­less driv­ing to es­cape po­lice pur­suit. He will ap­pear in Joon­dalup Mag­is­trates Court on June 29.
