Young artist track­ing well

SUC­CESS is con­tin­u­ing for Christo­pher Hum­mel, with an­other art award to add to his belt.

The Year 11 Pren­diville Catholic Col­lege stu­dent has been named a co-win­ner in the an­nual meta ex­hi­bi­tion at North Metropoli­tan Tafe, which show­cases work by years 11 and 12 stu­dents across WA.

He won the ma­jor prize for his art­work ti­tled Graffmy­train.

Hum­mel, who has autism, said he en­joyed paint­ing graf­fiti trains from around the world.

“I paint trains be­cause I love trains and I put graf­fiti on it be­cause I like it, so I com­bined it to­gether,” he said in his artist state­ment.

Ear­lier this year, Hum­mel won the stu­dent award at the 2018 Com­mu­nity Art Ex­hi­bi­tion.

Han­nah Ja­cob from Irene McCor­mack Catholic Col­lege was also com­mended.
