Young artist tracking well
SUCCESS is continuing for Christopher Hummel, with another art award to add to his belt.
The Year 11 Prendiville Catholic College student has been named a co-winner in the annual meta exhibition at North Metropolitan Tafe, which showcases work by years 11 and 12 students across WA.
He won the major prize for his artwork titled Graffmytrain.
Hummel, who has autism, said he enjoyed painting graffiti trains from around the world.
“I paint trains because I love trains and I put graffiti on it because I like it, so I combined it together,” he said in his artist statement.
Earlier this year, Hummel won the student award at the 2018 Community Art Exhibition.
Hannah Jacob from Irene McCormack Catholic College was also commended.
