BADMINTON players from across Australia and overseas will gather in Madeley next week for two competitions.

The Badminton Association of WA will host the Asia-Pacific Under19 Team Championships on September 11 and 12 and the Australian Junior International on September 13 to 16 at Kingsway Indoor Stadium.

Executive officer Eugene Glazman said four teams would compete in the first competition: Australian Green and Australian Gold with eight players each, and New Zealand Black and White with four players each.

Mr Glazman said 42 individuals had registered for the second competition – 13 from WA, 19 interstate players, eight from New Zealand, one Malaysian and one from the US.

He said the association last hosted a similar event in 2012 and spectators were welcome to watch rising junior players. WA competitors include Radhika Swain, of Darch, and Matthew Cunningham, of Woodvale.
