Joon­dalup stu­dents get creative for in­au­gu­ral Health and Well­ness Day.

JOON­DALUP Pri­mary School and Ed­u­ca­tion Sup­port Cen­tre stu­dents put their books and pens away re­cently and got creative for their in­au­gu­ral Health and Well­ness Day.

The school formed a com­mit­tee to de­velop a day cen­tred around health and well­be­ing in line with the school’s de­sire to sup­port and nur­ture pos­i­tive well­be­ing and men­tal health for staff and stu­dents.

“We wanted to use the strengths of the schools and lo­cal com­mu­nity to in­clude ac­tiv­i­ties that would con­nect the body and brain and help stu­dents de­velop their fo­cus and at­ten­tion,” com­mit­tee leader Skye Mercer said.

Ac­tiv­i­ties in­cluded yoga, drum­ming, mu­sic and mood, danc­ing, fit­ness, the Harry Pot­ter-born game quid­ditch and mak­ing calm­ing jars, stress balls and kind­ness rocks.

Stu­dents also ex­plored calm­ing gar­dens and na­ture pat­terns.
