Councillors at their September meeting approved a $5000 donation to Twin Cities 89.7FM and asked the City administration to investigate opportunities to establish a sponsorship agreement.

Presenter Sue Myc welcomed the decision after giving a deputation on behalf of the volunteer-run station.

Mrs Myc said the station promoted Wanneroo events and regularly hosted talks by the Mayor and wanted a similar arrangement to the City of Joondalup’s $10,000 sponsorship deal.

She said the station was “delighted” the City recognised the role that 89.7FM played in the community.

“Radio continues to provide a platform for all community voices and provides direct, factual and effective information and entertainment,” she said.
