Have say on environment
THE City of Wanneroo is seeking public comment on its draft local environmental strategy after it was endorsed at the September council meeting.
Mayor Tracey Roberts said the draft strategy outlined the City’s overall approach to protecting and managing key environmental resources and natural treasures throughout the City.
“The City has many special and unique environmental assets including 32km of coastline, nature reserves, wetlands, a diverse bushland habitat and underground water resources,” she said.
The strategy identifies six key themes: flora and fauna – biodiversity and native vegetation; land and waste – contamination and management; community – sense of place and liveability; climate and change impacts; air and energy – including air quality and energy reduction; and water – including availability and quality.
Submissions can be made until Tuesday, November 6.
