BALLET at the Quarry opening night earlier this month was the swansong for WA Ballet chief executive Steven Roth (right).
He starts his new role as executive director at the Scottish National Ballet in Glasgow after nine years with WA Ballet.
The former conductor who studied music at the Victorian College of the Arts said he had only intended to stay in Perth for five years.
He said the obvious highlight over the past nine years had been the opening of the new WA Ballet Centre in Maylands.
“But there’s so much more than that… improving the repertoire considerably, bringing Sleeping Beauty here, increasing the number of dancers and quality of dancers,” he said.
There were 19 dancers when he joined the company in 2007.
There are now 38.
