Team top in be­ing a force for change

A DUNCRAIG res­i­dent and his co-worker have been recog­nised as the top dis­abil­ity sup­port work­ers in the State.

Chris Black and Na­dia Bas­mari, of Black Swan Health’s Part­ners in Re­cov­ery team, were se­lected from 130 nom­i­na­tions to re­ceive the Over­all Award for Ex­cel­lence at the re­cent Dis­abil­ity Sup­port Awards.

The pair also re­ceived the Ex­cel­lence in Ad­vo­cacy and Rights Pro­mo­tion gong.

Rachel, who is a client of theirs, nom­i­nated them af­ter they helped her make a sig­nif­i­cant trans­for­ma­tion in her life.

She praised them for their “a will­ing­ness to do what­ever it takes to bet­ter our lives”.

Mr Black took much pride from the ac­co­lade among a field of ac­com­plished peers.

“I am just so hum­bled and grate­ful that the judges deemed us to be out­stand­ing in what we see to be our day-to-day work,” he said.

Black Swan Health chief ex­ec­u­tive Te­rina Grace said the pair had been recog­nised for driv­ing pos­i­tive change.
