Work starts on wa­ter mains

WORK has started on build­ing 1.33km of wa­ter mains in Banksia Grove.

The Wa­ter Cor­po­ra­tion project aims to cater for fu­ture growth in the City of Wan­neroo and it is ex­pected to be com­pleted by Septem­ber.

Spokes­woman Clare Lu­gar said the wa­ter main was be­ing con­structed along Woolly Road, Ghost Gum Boule­vard, Para­keelya Road and Ce­ladon Loop.

“Work will be un­der­taken us­ing both open trench ex­ca­va­tion and trench­less tech­nol­ogy,” she said.

“Trench­less tech­nol­ogy will be used to min­imise traf­fic im­pacts on d468902 busy roads, such as the in­ter­sec­tion of Joon­dalup Drive and Para­keelya Road.

“This tech­nol­ogy al­lows us to tun­nel un­der the in­ter­sec­tion with­out the need to dig up the road sur­face.”

Traf­fic man­age­ment will be in place while the main is in­stalled and less noisy works will be un­der­taken overnight and on week­ends where pos­si­ble to has­ten com­ple­tion.

Wa­ter Cor­po­ra­tion will en­sure ar­eas dis­turbed by the con­struc­tion, such as verges and drive­ways, are re­turned as close to orig­i­nal con­di­tion as pos­si­ble.
