FORMER students have shared their memories of a retired teacher who was killed at Green- wood train station last week.

David Allan Collins (69), known as Allan, died on September 30 after falling from his motorised bike into the path of an oncoming train.

He was a former teacher at Halidon Primary School in Kingsley and many past students took to social media to pay tribute.

Melissa Ovenden described him as a “truly amazing teacher” and Daniel Salamone said he was “a fantastic teacher and a wonderful person”.

Samuel Asbury said Mr Collins had made a difference to his life.

“He was one of my favourite teachers and helped me become a much better person than I was on track to being,” he wrote.

Michelle Smith also remembered him fondly.

“I have such happy, fond memories of being in his class. I still remember how he would sign his name on our work with a happy smiling face in his letter ‘A’,” she said.
