Sorrento FC upgrade set
THE clubroom for Sorrento Football Club is getting an upgrade.
At last month’s meeting, Joondalup councillors accepted a $706,000 tender from Devco Builders for the refurbishment of the Percy Doyle Reserve facility to be finished by February 9.
This will include upgrades to the toilets, changerooms and main hall, as well as extensions to the storage area and veranda.
Tenders were advertised from June 17 to July 4, with 13 submissions received.
City officers recommended Devco Builders because the company “demonstrated extensive experience completing similar new and refurbishment projects”, including the Woodvale Community Centre, Sorrento Community Hall, Duncraig Library, Craigie Leisure Centre, Robin Park in Sorrento and Korella Park in Mullaloo, along with the Iluka Sports Complex.
“It demonstrated understanding of the project requirements and has sufficient capacity to complete the works,” a council document said.
“It also has detailed knowledge of the site as it previously replaced the ceiling of the Sorrento Soccer Clubroom and has also carried out maintenance works on that building on a number of occasions.”
Councillors also voted to approve the over-budget expenditure of $78,200 to increase water pressure within the facility and to repair existing leach drains.
“These additional works are necessary to successfully complete the project,” the document said.
These additional funds will come from the City’s Percy Doyle Utilities Upgrade Project.
Refurbishments are also proposed for the Sorrento Tennis Club’s clubroom building, including upgrades to the toilets, changeroom, bar and foyer, as well as improvements to its external access.
